LeadPages vs ClickFunnels

The best way to determine which sales funnel building tool is right for you, is to put each feature head to head. Both sales funnel builders offer a decent number of features that allow you to optimize your sales funnels. That said, they’re not equal in all aspects. Take a look at what we mean below:

Leadpages Vs Clickfunnels

Page builder

Both ClickFunnels and LeadPages utilize an intuitive drag and drop builder. That said, they’re certainly not equal. While you may get good use out of the LeadPages builder, it’s not the best in the industry. There are many limitations like the snap-guides which don’t allow you to perform pixel-perfect adjustments.

You may not enjoy this if most of your elements end up being slightly off-centered from your design

Moreover, some of their page templates don’t work with their drag and drop builder which is unfortunate and poor planning on LeadPages’ part.

On the other hand, ClickFunnels comes with one of the most intuitive and user-friendly drag and drop builders in the industry. Their builder is well-organized, can support CSS coding to add your own personal tweaks, and you’re able to make use of specific adjustments by changing the margins on its settings.

The builder is also less glitchy compared to LeadPages which is something you’ll appreciate when you’re trying to focus on building your pages and funnels.

Summary: Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels utilize drag and drop builders to build pages. This makes it easier for newbies and those not well versed with coding to build attractive pages with little to no effort. That said, it’s clear that ClickFunnels’ builder is one of the best in the market. It’s less glitchy, allows you to place elements exactly where you need them to be, and is overall a more intuitive tool compared to the one LeadPages offers.

Page templates

Page templates are an important aspect to consider when choosing any sales funnel builder. Not everyone has the technical skill to design their own sales funnels from scratch. Moreover, there are always those special instances wherein you need just a little bit of help and inspiration from experts.

ClickFunnels templates

While both platforms provide you with multiple page template options, it’s clear that ClickFunnels takes the cake.

You may not be aware of this, but ClickFunnels was founded by the “Sales Funnel King” Russel Brunson. While they struggled with a reputation of overly salesy funnels in the past, they’ve certainly evolved from sales-oriented funnels. They now offer a wider range of page templates all designed by experts supervised by Brunson himself.

You also have the option to create your own templates once you’ve gained enough confidence to create your own. Moreover, ClickFunnels offers a wider selection of page templates which includes:

  • Webinar templates
  • Product launch templates
  • Membership program templates
  • Sales funnel templates
  • Squeeze page templates
  • Reverse squeeze page templates
  • Sales letter templates
  • Application templates
  • Upsell templates
  • Offer wall templates
  • Thank you templates

On the other hand, LeadPages only covers a few standard templates for every occasion. Although their templates are also simple and crisp at first look.

Leadpages landing page templates

Summary: LeadPages gives you a decent selection of page templates for nearly every situation. However, you may find their templates lackluster and not enough. That said, it’s clear that ClickFunnels wins in overall functionality, design, customizability, efficiency, and number of options.

Funnel builder

The funnel builder on these sales funnel platforms are nowhere near close to each other in comparison. This can be chalked up to the fact that LeadPages is geared more towards creating landing pages instead of actual sales funnels. Because of this, LeadPages requires you to create separate pages and link them into each other to successfully create your funnels.

It may be easy enough to create each page separately, but the lack of a streamlined process in funnel creation is something that might put you off.

ClickFunnels on the other hand, features pre-built funnels and the platform even gives you access to two methods of creating sales funnels. You can choose between the Cookbook Builder process which is a guided sales funnel builder better suited for those in a hurry or newbies, or the Classic Builder process which allows you to take full control of your sales funnel creation process.

Let’s take a closer look at both methods:

The Cookbook Builder

  • Allows you to build a funnel based on a market industry to make it easier for you. You have the option to choose between eCommerce, B2B, Author, Consultation, Services, and more funnel options.

The Classic Builder

  • Gives you the ability to start by choosing your goal. This allows you to create a more targeted and specific sales funnel that is optimized to reach your set goal. You can choose to set goals like collecting emails, hosting a webinar, selling products, and more.

Moreover, ClickFunnels also gives you the option to create a custom funnel if you’re unsatisfied with their options.

Clickfunnels cookbook funnel builder_classic builder

Summary: ClickFunnels is more optimized for sales funnel creation compared to LeadPages. The LeadPages sales funnel builder is generally less streamlined compared to the ClickFunnels platform, It’s certainly possible to build a sales funnel on LeadPages.

However, you will have to do it manually by linking each page you build to the other. This may not be a good option for newbies or anyone who wants a quick fix. On the other hand, ClickFunnels streamlines the entire process for you. You can choose to create your own funnels from scratch or utilize their preset funnels based on your industry or goals.

A/B Split Testing

A/B split testing is an admittedly basic, yet important aspect of creating effective pages and sales funnels. While both LeadPages and ClickFunnels offer A/B split testing, only ClickFunnels comes with it in their basic plan without limits. On LeadPages however, you only get the A/B split testing with their Advanced Plan.

Moreover, we found that the ClickFunnels split testing feature is better organized. You can even split test pages side-by-side so you can see their comparison more easily. Each funnel variation is also easily accessible via the ClickFunnels dashboard.

Summary: Both platforms offer A/B split testing features. However, you will need to upgrade to LeadPages’ Advanced plan to access it. That said, ClickFunnels does have a better organized interface for split testing. The tool even allows you to put two versions of a page side by side for a clearer comparison.

Analytics

Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels offer a highly comprehensive analytics tool for your pages. Unlike in previous features, both programs offer different things when it comes to their analytics platform and it would depend on your preferences to determine the better option.

Leadpages analytics

Leadpages allows you to connect it with your Google Analytics account to get the best value out of the feature. However, it is also possible to view the following directly within your dashboard:

  • Page views
  • Unique page views
  • Conversions and opt-ins
  • Conversion rates
  • Earnings

On the other hand, ClickFunnels allows you to link it to Google Analytics and Facebook retargeting pixels as well (LeadPages does this too) but it doesn’t have a dedicated analytics page on the platform.

Summary: I recommend looking into LeadPages if you’re not interested in linking your funnels to your Google Analytics account. They offer a good range of in-dashboard analytics options that would still get the job done.

Upselling and Downselling

While LeadPages offers this feature with decent execution, there’s really no comparing it to what ClickFunnels can do for you. Upselling and downselling are one of the core ingredients of a sales funnel.

And you can’t count on any other platform to do this better than ClickFunnels which is run by the Sales Funnel King Russel Brunson himself.

Summary: Both platforms give you upselling and downselling features. However, it’s hard to compete with ClickFunnels on this one considering they have one of the highest success rates with upsells and downsells in the industry.

Lead captures

If you’re solely focused on collecting leads, then LeadPages may be able to do enough for you. The LeadPages platform does a decent job of collecting emails for you.

Clickfunnels lead capture page

However, if you’re looking for a more conversion-geared platform, ClickFunnels is the obvious choice. Their lead capture methods not only collect information for you, but they are optimized to prime your leads into making a conversion in the future.

While it’s possible to do this using Leadpages, it isn’t as convenient as ClickFunnels. You might even find yourself going over a significant amount of trial and error before finding the sweet spot that helps you maximize conversions.

Summary: ClickFunnels is designed to maximize your conversions. So if you really want to make the most of your lead collections, ClickFunnels is clearly the way to go. Their optimized system primes your leads to get for conversions and minimizes your bounce rates effectively as well.

Website integrations

When choosing a winner for the web integrations feature of both platforms, it’s important to consider your preferences. Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels give you the ability to build pages and add them into other platforms like WordPress.

Here are a few things you need to consider:

  • LeadPages can integrate directly with WordPress and many other third-party web providers.
  • LeadPages gives you the ability to build pages on its page builder and publish them with ease to your WordPress website through a plugin.
  • For blog-owners, LeadPages allows you to build pop-ups that can be added into your existing blog pages
  • The LeadPages builder allows you to customize all designs with your branding.
  • LeadPages allows you to connect up to 50 domains to your account depending on the plan you choose.
  • Similarly, ClickFunnels utilizes a plugin that allows you to embed your pages directly to your WordPress site.
  • The Funnel Builder Secrets Plan even comes with home pages that are pre-built and designed to blend into WordPress sites.

Summary: Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels offer a good variety of website integrations. It’s also incredibly easy for WordPress website owners to embed pages built on either platform on your website so it’s pretty much neck and neck for both tools on this feature.

Membership content

LeadPages does not support hosting membership content. However, if you’re hosting your members-only content on another platform like WordPress, there are ways to connect it to LeadPages.

Meanwhile, ClickFunnels makes it easy for you to access, navigate, and moderate your membership content right on the platform.

Clickfunnels membership access

Here are a few things you need to keep in mind:

  • LeadPages does not support single sign on. You can only use LeadPages to build purchase pages and link it manually to your WordPress page to give certain members access.
  • ClickFunnels has an automated and easy to navigate process for creating members-only content on its dashboard. It allows you to choose whether you’d like to give your members direct access to the content, drip-feed it, or send them to a thank you page to upsell other products.

Summary: ClickFunnels streamlines the membership content process. It’s far easier and more convenient compared to the manual options that LeadPages allow you to do. More than that, your membership content can be set up to feel like an entirely different sales funnel with ClickFunnels. You’ll have options to drip-feed or give straight access to content and you can even redirect them to pages that will upsell them even further.

LeadPages pros and cons

Before we move forward with deciding which platform is the best choice for you, let’s take a quick overview of what LeadPages has to offer you and what drawbacks you’ll encounter while on the platform.

Cons

  • The page builder is often glitchy and slow

  • It is better used for capturing leads. However, it is not designed to help you turn those leads into conversions
  • Upselling and downselling only comes with the Advanced Plan and isn’t as intuitive or effective as what ClickFunnels offers

  • There is no autoresponder feature
  • There is no membership content tool

  • There is no 24/7 chat support
  • It is best used for building landing pages instead of sales funnels

Summary: is LeadPages worth it? Who do you recommend it for?

LeadPages is certainly a good option if your business is new and you don’t want to spend a lot on a page building tool. It gives you access to a good range of features designed for those without enough technical skill to create pages and funnels from scratch.

Leadpages consulting services

Its customer support is highly responsive and helpful. And there’s even a handy analytics feature on the platform itself that allows you to view basic analytics without having to link your account to Google Analytics.

However, while LeadPages does give you the ability to create sales funnels, it’s often a complicated process that requires more than just a little bit of your time.

ClickFunnels pros and cons

ClickFunnels is one of the more popular names in the game when it comes to sales funnel and page builders. While it comes with a good deal of positives, it’s clear it’s not perfect. Keep reading to find out what I mean.

  • Does not offer 24/7 chat support

Summary

ClickFunnels is definitely not intended for startups who are trying to save as much money as they can.

However, if you want to make the best sales funnels and pages you can from the get-go, ClickFunnels is one of the best platforms to do the job for you.

Clickfunnels backpack

I highly recommend it if your website is on WordPress. Otherwise, you might have a bit of a difficult time trying to integrate it.

Other than that, its conversion and upsell-geared pages and sales funnels will lower your bounce rates and guarantee that you’re able to make the most out of every view your page gets.

Which one is better?

ClickFunnels and LeadPages cater to two varying business types. If you’re looking for a feature-rich platform that will give you the most value for your money and allow you to access several features that will help you gain conversions and more efficiently gather leads and build sales funnels, I recommend ClickFunnels.

That said, ClickFunnels is expensive. Its payment plans start at $99 a month which may not be realistic for many startup businesses. However, if you’re willing to put in the time and effort to make it work, your business will definitely be a head above its competition if you invest in ClickFunnels.

On the other hand, LeadPages is better suited for startups and newbies to page building. The platform itself is less complicated to understand compared to ClickFunnels and it’s still a reliable tool that will allow you to effectively create landing pages and even sales funnels if you're willing to do the extra work.

Furthermore, it’s easier to integrate it with other CMS platforms aside from WordPress whereas ClickFunnels is quite difficult to integrate with other web providers.

Overall, the choice is yours. If you’re looking for a high-return investment and are willing to take the time to milk the platform of everything it can offer for your business, then ClickFunnels is the best option for you.

However, if you’re looking for something a little more startup friendly and have no use for sales funnels yet, LeadPages is your best bet.
