MailerLite pricing plans

MailerLite is one of the many email marketing providers that offer a free for life plan. This makes it ideal for anyone who is just starting out or anyone who just wants to try out the platform first. Of course, the freemium plan comes with many limitations. If you don’t want to be limited however, you can also opt to subscribe to their Premium Plan.

Let’s take a quick look at the plans they offer.

The premium plan

The premium plan relies heavily on the number of subscribers you have. You also have a variety of add ons to choose from. But we’ll get to that later.

The Premium plan has price tiers determined by the number of maximum subscribers you can have on your contact list. Other than that, you can send an unlimited number of emails each month.

  • 1 to 1,000 subscribers - $10 a month
  • 1,001 to 2,500 subscribers - $15 a month
  • 2,501 to 5,000 subscribers - $30 a month
  • 5,001 to 10,000 subscribers - $50

The Premium plan gives you access to a few features you won’t have with the Free plan like:

  • 24/7 live chat support
  • Option to add-on MailerPro
  • Removing the MailerLite logo
  • Access to the custom HTML editor
  • Templates for your newsletters
  • The ability to use a custom domain
  • Utilize promotion pop-ups
  • Automatic resending of your emails
  • Timezone-dependent delivery
  • Dedicated IP add-on
  • Click mapping
  • Open by location settings
  • Custom favicon
  • The ability to create templates
  • A/B Split testing
  • The ability to connect an unlimited number of domains
  • Additional analytics like the click heatmap

If you’re not entirely positive you’ll need the added features that come with the premium plan and don’t want to make a commitment, you can also try their 14-day free trial. It allows you to sample all of the premium features without making any commitments.

Free plan

Not entirely sure whether you need the premium features? Or are you just looking for basic features and only have a small contact list of subscribers? You might want to consider the free for life plan.

This plan is free and will remain free until you go over 1,000 contacts. However, unlike the premium plan you will be limited to sending only 12,000 emails each month.

If you’re a startup, the free plan is a good place to start. You won’t have to make any major monetary commitments, and it’s ideal if you’re still not over 12,000 emails and 1,000 subscribers a month.

The free plan also comes with plenty of features that you’ll also get with the premium plan like:

  • Knowledge base
  • Video tutorials
  • 24/7 email support
  • Access to the drag and drop editor
  • The ability to use the rich text editor
  • In-built photo editing capabilities
  • Handy file manager
  • Mobile-responsive newsletters
  • Access to the landing page creator
  • Ability to embed sign up forms
  • Pop-up subscription forms
  • Manage your subscribers
  • Automated emails
  • Advanced segmentation
  • Group tags or interest group tagging
  • RSS campaigns
  • A/B split testing
  • Campaign reports
  • Survey creator
  • Authenticating domains
  • Multiple user accounts
  • User permission settings
  • Third-party integrations
  • Free website
  • Five free landing pages
  • Unlimited web traffic
  • Over 25 customizable templates
  • Compliant with GDPR requirements
  • Double opt-ins
  • Surveys and quizzes
  • MailerLite pop-ups integration
  • Custom code inject
  • Mobile-responsive landing pages
  • Basic analytics

If you’re on a tight budget, or are just playing around, the free for life plan is a good start. It offers a good variety of features that will help you succeed in email marketing without costing you anything.

On the other hand, I also recommend you check out the free trial just so you know if the premium plan is something you need to invest in.

Optional add-ons

If you plan on subscribing to the premium plan, there are a number of add-ons you can purchase to help you maximize your MailerLite experience.

These add-ons are helpful if you want to make sure your emails and landing pages are as optimized as possible for optimal conversions.

For an additional charge of $10 a month, the SitesPro add-on gives you the ability to publish an unlimited number of websites and landing pages. This is ideal if you work with many clients creating landing pages and websites.

  • MailerLite site-building features will be uninhibited and will allow you to create sites that are more streamlined, smooth, and engaging.
  • This can also be purchased as an add-on even if you’re on the free plan.

The MailerPro feature add-on assigns a dedicated MailerLite manager to you who helps you create email templates and GDPR compliant website forms, import subscribers, and analyze your metrics for you. This feature costs an additional $100 a month.

  • It’s ideal if you have a large mailing list and would like to have a higher conversion rate.
  • The MailerPro feature helps you create more effective campaigns and targets weak spots you may have missed.

Dedicated IP

Setting up a dedicated IP helps improve your deliverability rates and prevents your emails from ending up in the SPAM folder. This additional feature costs an additional $50 a month and is recommended if you have over 50,000 subscribers.

  • Dedicated IPs isolate your sending reputation and help your mail get to where you want them.

Free vs premium plan: which MailerLite plan do I need?

It all depends on your preferences, needs, and budget. I’d say there are a few things you need to consider before jumping into a premium subscription or resigning yourself to the free plan.

  • How many subscribers do you have? It’s important to think about where you are right now. Do you have over 500 subscribers? Do you see them growing exponentially over the course of a few weeks? Take stock of where your subscriber list is and think about where you think it will be in a week or two.
  • Do you need the premium features? I always say you need to invest in your business if you want it to flourish. I still stand by that statement. However, you also need to consider whether the premium features are a must for you especially if your subscriber list isn’t going to exceed 1,000 anytime soon. The extra features are helpful and nice to have. But will you really be able to maximize their potential for your business?
  • Can you afford the premium features? If you find yourself needing the premium features, ask yourself if your business can afford it. At a basic level, $10 a month isn’t really that expensive. However, you also need to consider whether it’s detrimental to your business or not.
  • Are the features right for you? Try out MailerLite’s features first! Make sure you’re comfortable and happy with the features MailerLite has to offer. Check out the drag and drop builder to see if it’s flexible enough or easy enough for you to use before making any major decisions.
  • Have you checked out the competition? While MailerLite is a great platform with competitive pricing tiers, make sure you’re not limiting yourself. There are many other similar tools in the market that come with a free plan, so make sure you do your research as well.

Is MailerLite worth it?

MailerLite comes with a pretty straightforward set of features and pricing options that are competitive, easy to understand, and worth your money.

Is MailerLite worth it?

The value is certainly there. The only question you need to think about now is this: is it right for you and your business?

Any platform could be the best in the industry. But the moment it doesn’t meet your specific requirements, it falls short. MailerLite offers good value features that increase conversions, and they come with a good price.

So, is it worth it? Definitely. If you try out MailerLite and find that its features work well for you, it’s certainly worth the premium subscription.

On the other hand, it’s hard to say it isn’t worth it if you opt to use it for free.

Final words

MailerLite is a good investment if you’re looking for a simple and straightforward mailing services platform. Its automation features are helpful when you don’t have the time to be online and manually send out certain emails.

Besides, who does that any more? It’s also a great platform if you’re considering expanding your subscription list in the future. There are price tiers that cater up to 10,000 subscribers plus add-ons that allow you to fully maximize your MailerLite experience.

Overall, I’m confident you’ll find that MailerLite is well worth its price. Plus the free for life plan is a great option if you’re just starting out and don’t want to spend extra on a mailing platform.

If you’re considering its premium features, you may also want to look into their 14-day free trial.
