Whether you're launching a new website for your business or are in charge of updating your company's site on a regular basis, there are many tools you can use to create content.

In this Pixpa review, we will go over its key features, pricing plan and the options for other web design software.

If you've already decided to get Pixpa, just click the button below.

What is Pixpa?

Pixpa is a web design tool that lets you build beautifully designed websites by creating custom templates. You can easily customize your design and add all the elements you need to create a unique website. Pixpa has a wide variety of templates you can use to customize your site, including business, portfolio, blogs , and photography. You can also use their premade templates to get started with your site in minutes.

The Pixpa website builder comes with a drag-and-drop editor, where you can easily drag around images, videos, and text to style your site.

You can also change the layout of your site with a few clicks of the mouse using their intuitive editor. Once you are done, Pixpa generates the code for your site and installs it on your hosting account. To host your site, Pixpa uses the industry-leading cloud servers from Amazon Web Services. This means that you get top-notch hosting and a reliable, high-performance website builder.

Who is it for?

The software is definitely something that you might want to consider if you’re a beginner at web design. That said, some would say that Pixpa is better reserved for creating niche sites and portfolios.

It’s a great option for anyone who wants to create simple, but attractive websites. It’s fairly easy to use so it’s also perfect for anyone who wants to get their website done quickly and easily without any hitches.

Officially, the software is marketed as a site creator for creatives. Usually, its main users are artists, photographers, and designers. But that doesn’t mean you can’t create visually stunning sites of your own on Pixpa.

What can I expect?

Apart from the obvious user-friendly interface and beginner-safe website builder, Pixpa does come with excellent secure servers. There are also a few e-commerce tools you can upgrade to and you may even want to dabble in their client proofing system.

I personally like how the platform can help you monetize your website almost immediately. Unfortunately, you can’t purchase a domain or create a company email directly on its servers. You’ll need to outsource it to a third-party provider.

It’s a minor hitch, and I don’t really mind it. But if it’s something that you’re looking for, then you may need to take a step back and evaluate everything else the platform has to offer before making a decision.

Pixpa features

There are 6 main types of websites you can build on the platform. This includes portfolio sites, online stores, blogs, client galleries, e-commerce galleries and mobile gallery apps. I won’t lie, it may sound like it’s not much - but there’s really something for everyone here. I quite like how you’re able to create a site that meets most of your needs. Take note though that the platform caters mostly to simpler sites. So if you need something more complex, you may want to look into an alternative - but we’ll discuss that later.

For now, let’s take a look at the features this platform has to offer:

User interface

Overall, I’m impressed with how easy it is to navigate the whole site. It’s not at all confusing for beginners or noobs to get used to. I know, I know, you may think that’s just because I’m already used to this type of software by now, but really.

best small business websites built with pixpa

I like how the buttons are clearly marked, everything is easy to see, there’s no ”hidden menu” that you’ll have to accidentally discover before you get to use it. At first look, you’re prompted with the gorgeous web design; which I think is always a precursor to what the platform can do for you.

On the top left corner, you’ll find the main menu listing off some of the most essential things you need to know about Pixpa. When you look to the right, you’ll find their help, login and get started buttons.

I like how everything is kept pretty much basic in terms of placement so you can see it quickly. It surely is quite efficient and I have to applaud the developers for that.

Drag and drop builder

I’m quite fond of traditional drag and drop interfaces. Don’t get me wrong, my gears turn for coding, Java and CSS. But there’s something that just clicks when I’m building a website that I can simply click and pull to where I need it.

On that note, you should know that Pixpa comes with a highly efficient drag and drop builder. It’s easy to use, seamless, and has a great response time. Of course, there may be a few bugs here and there. I’ve experienced a few 5-second freezes as well.

But other than that, it gets the job done quickly and smoothly. This is a feature that you’ll spend a lot of time on; for all the right reasons.

I like how there are tons of elements you can customize from the colors to the fonts to adding photos and other types of content for your website. It’s quick, easy, and it makes creating websites seem as uncomplicated as it should be.

Whether you’re a beginner or not, I believe you’ll be able to let your creativity run free on the software. And that’s a good thing! When you aren’t focusing on creating the right code sequence, you’re able to really harness the potential of a website and bring it to life.

Templates

Pixpa has TONS of templates to choose from. They’re all segregated by category, so you’ll never run out of options. But that’s not all. You can also make templates entirely your own in the design studio. This way, even when you’re starting out with a ready-made design, you can still make changes so it fits your brand, style and aesthetic.

Pixpa Templates

There are templates for the following categories:

  • Portfolios
  • Photography
  • Weddings
  • Store
  • Design
  • Art
  • Fashion
  • Business
  • Blogs
  • Personal

Like the rest of the site, the template library is very organized and easy to navigate. You’ll be able to find everything you need in no time.

But more than that, I really like the template options. Most of them are quite minimalistic in style, but you can definitely liven it up with patterns and prints and your own photos to really make your work pop out.

Integrated blogs

The blogging feature is really easy to use and I like how beautiful it looks on your website afterward. There really is no other way to say it, but that it’s perfect for first time bloggers and anyone who wants to get started on blogging.

add more blogs pixpa

There are several features that come with the blogging tools on Pixpa and I think they’re all worthy of your attention if you want to take a close look.

Post scheduling

I really like the ability to schedule your posts beforehand. Personally, I tend to create content in bulk. So there are days where I’ll have 5 posts lined up with nowhere to put them. With this feature, you won’t even need to set an alarm.

Just add it to your queue and it’ll publish itself on its own when you want it to. It’s simple, and it really frees up your time. Plus, this way you’re able to stick to a solid content schedule.

Multiple blog layouts

It’s no secret that what I like in terms of visual appeal may not be the same for you. The same can be said of the way you want your blogs to appear on your website. Thanks to this feature, you’re able to hand-pick exactly how you want your blog content to be placed and arranged on your site.

Pixpa Multiple blog layouts

It may sound weird, but when you’re looking at your website and realizing that your blog sequence just looks out of place, you’ll be thanking Pixpa for thinking ahead.

Social sharing

The whole point of creating blog posts is to spread your content to the world. Well, that and SEO; but that’s not what we’re talking about right now. Before I get carried away, it’s important to remember that your content will only become viral or useful if people are able to see it.

This feature makes it easier for people to share your content on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter or Messenger. It’s quite simple and it looks non-intrusive on your website. Despite that, it’s still easily visible for your viewers.

Mobile-friendly client galleries

For anyone who wants to create an intuitive mobile album that puts together every client they’ve worked with, this is a feature that comes in handy. I really like how you’re able to select between creating public or private libraries, manage rights for access and that you’re able to keep track of who’s taking a look at your pages.

Basically, the way this works is you’re directed to a main site with the albums. Now, each album has a unique link which then opens up to a beautiful landing page. It looks professional and absolutely helps save you a lot of time. Instead of compiling your work into a PDF, you can show off your skills with a gorgeous album!

Customer support

To be honest with you, I’ve had a very pleasant experience dealing with the software customer service team. They’re very friendly, approachable and easy to talk to. Because of that, it was quite easy to identify what I needed and get to the root of what we were trying to resolve.

Most of my encounters with them were through their email portal. That said, They also have active chat support on the website. So far, I found it easy to get a hold of them. I don’t see any reason to believe you wouldn’t be able to otherwise.

Pixpa pricing plans

There are basically 3 pricing tiers to choose from. Unfortunately, Pixpa does not offer a free plan. That said, it’s quite inexpensive and I think you really are able to get as much value for your money as possible.

Pixpa pricing plans

Before we get into the details, it’s important to know that each of their plans come with a 15-day free trial. The great thing about this is that you don’t even have to provide your credit card information. So there’s no reason for you to rush in canceling the trial before you get charged.

Furthermore, you can also subscribe without risks. You’re protected by the 30-day money-back guarantee in case you aren’t satisfied with the platform.

Lastly, you also get to choose between a monthly or annual billing cycle. As a general rule, you save a bit more on annual payments compared to monthly. Let’s take a look at your options below:

Personal

At $84 a year or $10 a month, this plan is their most affordable yet. It comes with a good feature set including:

  • Mobile optimized websites
  • Customizable themes
  • Up to 15 pages or galleries of content
  • Up to 200 website gallery images
  • Connect your domain
  • 1 year free domain name for the annual plan
  • SSL security
  • Custom CSS and HTML editing
  • Advanced SEO features
  • Social media connections
  • 24/7 customer support

There are tons of other features included not listed here, but we don’t have time to get into them all. I think this plan is the perfect option for anyone who’s looking for something to get started. It’s quite inexpensive and I love how functional it is.

Expert

Their most popular plan yet, this option costs $120 a year or $15 a month. It’s a step up from the previous plan and gives you a bit more wiggle room; so to speak. It comes with everything from the previous plan plus:

  • Unlimited content and website gallery images
  • Basic marketing pop ups
  • Announcement bars
  • Mobile information bars
  • Advanced mailing lists
  • Website setup service expert

There’s a lot more that you get with this plan to be honest. And I think it’s better suited for anyone who’s trying to pursue a professional career. It’s also perfect for budding businesses.

Business

At $192 a year or $24 a month, this plan is better suited for small and micro businesses. It has a lot of functionality, but it’s far from the complex sites that multi-million dollar businesses use. That said, it’s not impossible to replicate the effect with a bit of hard work.

It comes with everything from the previous plan as well as:

  • Advanced marketing pop-ups
  • Payment forms
  • Up to 1000 products
  • Advanced discount coupons
  • Advanced image comments
  • Unlimited custom photo apps for clients

Client galleries

Another thing you should know is the client galleries feature comes with its own standalone plans to choose from. There are 5 in total and each has their own unique offer. These plans range from $9 to $45 a month

Pixpa alternatives

There are tons of alternatives to consider in place of Pixpa. That said, we’re going to take a closer look at 2 of the most popular ones today. Take note that the biggest difference here is that both of these options come with a free forever plan.

Wix

The biggest difference between both platforms is that Wix is much larger in terms of the features it offers and the integrations or widgets you can add. Basically, you’ll have more room to create complex websites.

Wix editor user interface

Furthermore, you also have the WIX ADI. It's basically an AI software that can create custom websites for you. It’s somewhat similar to the website setup manager except it does everything for you.

Weebly

Pixpa is slightly more affordable compared to Weebly. That said, Weebly might be more your speed if you’re looking for software that prioritizes mobile-friendliness. Plus, you really can’t go wrong with one of the most popular small business website builders in the market.

weebly

If you want something that’s tried and true, give it a whirl. After all, it does come with a free forever plan.

Pixpa review: is it worth it?

If you ask me, you can definitely get a lot done on Pixpa. It’s one of those softwares that doesn’t really cost a lot to run or get started, but you do end up getting a TON of value for it. I like how easy it is to use and how their hosting offer is quite secure.

There are lots of templates to choose from, and you have a lot of free reign to customize them as you please. Plus, I really like their mobile gallery feature. It’s a unique and professional way to display your work and wow clients at the same time.

Overall, I have to say that it’s definitely worth the 15-day trial period. If by the end of it you decide it isn’t for you, then that’s fine. If you do end up falling in love with it, then that’s even better.
