But what do we know about him? What makes him tick?

Early life

Richard Hilton was born in Los Angeles, California, on August 17, 1955. He spent his whole youth in and around the Los Angeles area.

His paternal grandfather's name was Barron Hilton, and his maternal grandfather's was Marilyn June. His family consists of 8 children, and he is the 6th kid to be born:

His paternal great-grandfather was Conrad Hilton, the creator of the Hilton chain of hotels. Consequently, Richard enjoyed a secure childhood. Throughout his childhood, his parents and grandparents urged him to follow in their footsteps.

Richard enrolled in the University of Denver after graduating high school to pursue a hotel and restaurant management degree.

After finishing his degree, Hilton went to work at Eastdil Secured as an investment banker in the real estate business.

He was tasked with securing the involvement of institutional investors and pension funds in different deals. During his stay here, he got all the information he needed to become a real estate specialist.

Hilton Realty Investment was founded in 1984 better to manage the company's commercial real estate interests.

He eventually acquired his broker's license after another year of waiting. Hilton and his business partner, Jeffrey Hyland, created the corporation that would subsequently carry their names on July 26, 1993.

The Brentwood Country Estates development is one of his company's endeavors. There have been over 112 clients that have done business with the company. In 2012, the company's yearly revenues were close to $3.5 billion.

In addition, one of Hilton's contracts permitted him to earn a $3 million commission on selling a $130 million mansion.

His firm was in charge of selling several notable homes, including Candy Spelling's Holmby Hills Estate, a 56,000-square-foot property in Los Angeles with 123 rooms.

The property was acquired for an astounding $85 million, and Hilton represented both the buyer and seller in the deal.

Several organizations linked with Hilton & Hyland Real Estate, such as Williams & Williams, work together on various residential and commercial building projects.

Furthermore, Hilton acts as Candy Spelling and Ecclestone's business representative, protecting their interests. As a result, the company's profitability increased significantly in 2013, with sales approaching $2 billion.

Hilton, in addition to having a successful real estate business, is also engaged in television series production . Curfew, the 1989 action movie in which he also produced, served as his directing debut.

"The World According to Paris," "Paris Hilton's My New BFF," and "I Want to Be a Hilton" are just a few examples of the kind of shows he has created that incorporate his children.

Several real estate properties are owned by Richard and Kathy Hilton in the United States. In 1999, the couple paid $3.385 million for a seven-bedroom, three-acre Hamptons home.

Each year this home has been rented for between $300,000 and $400,000 throughout the summer months.

In 2004, Richard and Kathy spent $9.2 million on a sprawling Bel-Air mansion. It's also worth noting that they shelled over $2.5 million in 2014 for a room at New York's Pierre Hotel.

  • An 850-bottle wine cellar.
  • A 4K home theater with surround sound.
  • A library with custom marble fireplaces.

On the 3,300 square-foot patio is a 3,300 square-foot swimming pool, spa, and in-ground, custom-built pool house with canyon views. The $26 million renovation cost much money. In 2021, it was listed for $55 million on the market.

His daughters are Nicky Hilton, a model, fashion designer, and entrepreneur, and Paris Hilton, a well-known media personality, model, and actor. Nicky Hilton is also a business owner.

In addition, as a consequence of Kathy's prominent presence as a star on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Richard became well-known to a large number of people all over the world.

There will certainly be many more grandkids following Richard and Kathy's three soon.

The Hilton family

One thing we know about the Hiltons is that they are known for not passing on big fortune to their children. According to Reuters, Conrad Hilton, the founder of Hilton Worldwide, gave almost all of his assets to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation in 1979.

Barron Hilton was not given any special treatment.

According to Forbes, he began his hospitality career as an elevator operator at one of his father's hotels.

A private equity group paid him $800 million in 2007 for taking over the family business. Although Barron Hilton has eight children, he has "pledged" 97 percent of his wealth to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, following in his father's footsteps.

As a result, Richard Hilton was obliged to cope with the same problems that earlier members of the Hilton family encountered. According to Reuters, Steven Hilton, Richard Hilton's son, has taken over as foundation president.

To a degree, Richard was disregarded because the Hiltons saw Kathy Hilton as an unruly wild card who was too anxious to join the family. Consequently, Richard was denied the chance to join the family company.
