If you like to create videos for your business but aren’t comfortable or confident enough to record your own voice-overs, Speechelo proposes a very helpful solution to your problems.

I know, most text to speech software tend to sound robotic, and very unnatural. And we can all agree that it isn’t very effective.

In this Speechelo review, we tackle the ins and outs of this text to voice software and whether you should choose it over others out there.

If you've already decided to get Speechelo, just click the button below to check out the details.

What is Speechelo?

Let’s get this review started. To answer your question, Speechelo is an application you can use to turn your text into believable speech. I personally use it whenever voice overs are necessary and I just don’t feel like recording my own voice.

I know, I know, you’re probably going to come at me and tell me that apps like this have existed for a very long time already. But let’s be honest - most of them are either too expensive or don’t sound anything human at all.

It’s on the more expensive side, but the unlimited text to speech conversion is worth the try if you’re not satisfied with the 700 word limit on Speechelo’s regular purchase.
Speechelo Review

Its main selling point is that it’s supposedly 100% believable human-sounding. This is important for one very good reason:

People do not trust bots. Basically, no matter how great your graphics or visuals are, if it’s accompanied by a voiceover that sounds like the voice on Google Translate, then it will likely have more adverse effects than positive.

The reason behind this is that consumers are more receptive to human interaction. This is very difficult to establish in a digital space especially if you put out a voiceover that doesn’t sound like a real person.

Speechelo is a product of artificial intelligence technology that aims to help its users create believable speech formats to accompany videos or to be delivered on their own. I like how there are male and female voice options.

This means you can better tailor it to sound more familiar or welcoming to your demographic. It’s not unlikely for certain customer personas to respond better to a specific sex over the other.

How do I use Speechelo? What are its applications?

The app takes all of three clicks to use. So it’s fairly useful even if you consider yourself a beginner or a newbie in using any kind of software. The great thing about it is that you can use it for a virtually unlimited number of projects: school, work, advertising, creative content, whatever you can think of!

You might be thinking that I’m over-exaggerating on this. But voice overs can be used for anything, really. And that’s speaking from a time when the only thing software like this could produce was that robotic voice with no emotion in it.

Speechelo voiceover for videos

Why is it important?

So let’s say that you’re having trouble getting your desired results despite the professional graphics you’ve invested in on your videos. Sure, the background music sounds nice, the captions are displayed clearly, and beautifully, but your audience is still not responding in the way you want them to.

What do you do? What are you missing?

I’m sure you’ve asked yourself this over a hundred times already. And I’m almost 100% sure that you haven’t thought about the impact your voice over - or lack thereof, has on the results of your marketing efforts.

Like I mentioned before, that touch of humanity is often the “missing link” to getting your leads that final push they need to make it past the buy now button. Investing in a human-like voice over when it isn’t possible to get an actual voice talent ( or to do it yourself) will be a huge difference.

How do I use Speechelo?

The application is easy to use and not at all confusing. I quite like how straightforward the process is and that you only really have to go through three clicks to turn your text into an AI-generated human-sounding recording.

The first step: add your text

The process begins with you needing to input your dialogue into the text editing portion of the app. You can do this by simply pasting your text or typing directly onto the editor. One great thing about this process is that the platform double-checks your text thoroughly and then proceeds to punctuate it properly so it sounds more natural.

The second step: choose your voice type and language

Did I mention you can also choose from a variety of languages? No? Well, you can. Moreover, there are also options for changing the tone and adding in more natural pauses such as breathing sounds, and long pauses.

This will help you create content that will connect with more specific viewers. And of course, it sounds more natural no matter what language you’re using it for.

The third step: create your voiceover and hit download

Once you’ve got everything set up, all that’s left to do is generate the dialogue. The software will take care of this of course, after you’ve set your preferences. One of my favorite factors that affect the final outcome is the ability to hear exactly what your recording will sound like while you’re setting your preferences.

This makes it easier for you to change between voice types, languages, and additional factors like breathing and pauses without needing to download or convert it first. Once you’re happy with the outcome, you can download it and use it any way you want.

Review of Speechelo features

This AI text to speech program’s biggest charm is that it’s as straightforward as it gets when it comes to features and how it works. The reason why it’s good at what it does is because it focuses on one offering and honing that until it’s the best possible version of itself.

Here are the features on the app that I think are worth thinking about especially if you’re not sure about it just yet.

Unique inflections

The application claims to be the only one out there that adds inflections to its recordings. This is a great feature to have since it adds to the natural tone of the speech. Long story short, it makes it sound more like an actual human recorded it instead of an artificial intelligence product.

Speechelo features Unique inflections

I’m not going to lie, this is the main reason why I tried it out in the first place. I just wasn’t satisfied with the other options out there and wanted to see if the added inflections really did make a difference. At first, I was a little skeptical. After all, I couldn’t even begin to understand how natural inflections would be added so that they sounded real.

But here I am, over 10 recordings later, completely happy as a bee with the results. The only reason why I haven’t used it more is because I’ve grown more confident with my speaking skills and wanted to add my own touch to my content.

Over 23 languages to choose from

Another convenient factor about the engine is that there are around 23 languages to choose from besides English. Now, if you’re catering to an international audience, and would like to be more inclusive, this is a great idea.

Of course, you need to keep in mind that your text will need to have the correct translation at the beginning. Otherwise, you might just end up confusing or offending your audience with your linguistic inaccuracy. Unless, of course, that’s a common understanding you have with your demographic.

Speechelo languages

Here’s a complete list of languages to choose from:

  • Dutch
  • Arabic
  • Danish
  • Mandarin
  • German
  • Icelandic
  • French
  • English
  • Japanese
  • Italian
  • Norwegian
  • Korean
  • Portuguese
  • Polish
  • Spanish
  • Romanian
  • Welsh
  • Russian
  • Turkish
  • Finnish
  • Thai
  • Hindi

Multiple lifelike voice options

Like I said before, there are male and female voice options. But did you know that there are more than 30 voices to choose from? Now, that may not sound like a lot to you, but it’s plenty enough to give your content more variety. Unless you want to keep it cohesive with a single voice of course.

But still, the options are a good feature to have especially if you want to look into multiple-voice recordings if you’re trying to add dialogue to your presentations. And it’s not restricted to only adult male or female voices. You also have options for child voices or specific english-type voices such as British or Australian.

Three tone options

One of the main reasons why other text to speech softwares out there aren’t too popular is because of how monotonous they can get. In addition to the inflections feature, you also get to choose between three tones of voice that you want your recordings to have.

Your choices are a normal tone of talking, a joyful and upbeat tone, or a serious no-nonsense approach. As mentioned before, if you want to add variety to your content, this is a great feature to have. This makes sure that your presentations are far from monotonous and would fit the text you’re trying to accomplish.

Video creation software compatibility

Speechelo can be used alongside any program that is designed for creating videos such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, Audacity, iMovie, and more. This is great news especially if you don’t like to stick to one medium and would like to make things easier when it comes to calibrating your voiceovers with your visuals.

Speechelo works with any video software

Quick text to speech conversion

It only takes around 10 seconds to create a ten-minute long voiceover. Yes, it’s very simple. And even if you spend a minimal amount of time on your recording, you’ll still get your money’s worth because the program is designed to naturally sound like a human voice with very little alterations needed.

In-app text editor

Let’s face it, not all of us have the time to check if our text is 100% correctly punctuated. I like how you don’t have to worry about missing a comma with the application because the online editor will do it for you. This further contributes to making the speech sound more lifelike compared to other engines in the market.

Natural sounds

In addition to the inflections, voice, and language options, you also get to add breathing sounds and pauses. This is a feature that many of Speechelo’s competitors lack. And I know you might be thinking that it’s not absolutely necessary. But trust me, when you’ve discovered exactly how realistic your voice overs sound afterward, you won’t go back.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to do this manually, the AI software does a good enough job itself of deciding when to pause and when to breathe.

Speechelo best features

Pitch and talking speed customization

Another feature that allows you to create realistic voice overs is the ability to change the pitch and the speed of speech. This allows you to create entire characters to suit your needs without having to worry about them all sounding the same as each other even when you’re using the same voice.

No monthly fees

You can get Speechelo for a one-time lifetime fee. This means it’s a great investment especially if you want to save a little bit of money from hiring professional voice actors to talk on your behalf. The one-time payment also means you don’t have to worry about paying a monthly fee.

You only need to pay $47 which is currently at a 53% discount from the program’s original price. If you ask me, that’s more than a reasonable amount to pay for unlimited access to speech to text software. Especially one that is as believable and as advanced as Speechelo.

Speechelo upsells

Aside from the one-time offer, there are also other products that go hand-in-hand with using the software. Take a look at some of those offers below to see whether you would like to get them or not.

In my opinion, you should get Speechelo PRO at the very least. It doesn't cost much - plus, the benefits of it are tremendous when you’re using the app on a professional level.

PRO upgrade

The standard edition of the app will restrain you when it comes to the number of words you can convert into a voiceover at a time. The upgrade lets you record up to four times the usual 700-word restriction which means you can create longer voiceovers or recordings. Additionally, you’ll also gain access to around 40 additional background tracks all for only $47 quarterly.

Speechelo upsells

Speechelo tube

This add-on will charge you a one-time fee of $37 and allows you to create a brand new voiceover from existing YouTube videos in the same language. Alternatively, you could also translate the same voiceover to a different language.

It’s easy to do as well since you only need to copy and paste the link into the editor. After which, you’ll be able to make changes to it like altering the language or voice used.

Frequently asked questions about the Speechelo software

I understand that there might be more than just a few questions running around your mind right now. It can be difficult to decide on a single software especially if you’re planning on utilizing it for your business.

Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions about the program plus their answers:

Is the software cloud-based?

Yes, the application does store its information via a cloud drive. You don’t have to worry about it taking up space on your computer or laptop because everything will be stored in the app’s servers.

Do I need extra space to download this text to speech engine?

Absolutely not. There is nothing you need to download or to make room for on your computer except for the recordings you download once you’re done. Because it runs on a cloud-based server, you can access your account anytime and anywhere using any device as long as you have your login information.

Do updates come with my purchase or will I need to pay a fee to access the updates?

The one time fee you pay upfront when signing up covers any and all updates that will be made to the program in the future. It also means that if its developers decide to switch to a monthly subscription payment model, you won’t need to worry about it.

Do I need to do something for the updates to take effect?

No, you don’t. Any changes to the program will be automatically put into place so you don’t need to worry about a thing.

Speechelo pros and cons

Like any software out there, you’re bound to find faults alongside its benefits. The same can be said of Speechelo. Take a look at its positive and negative sides below.

Speechelo pros and cons

The application is without a doubt one of the best in the market. Take a closer look at the reasons why it might be right for you.

But unfortunately, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. I noticed one lapse that the software should improve upon in their future updates.

  • It’s very easy to use. You don’t have to worry about spending an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out how to use the program. You’re set to go in just a few seconds.
  • There are multiple language options. In addition to multiple variations of English voices, you also get 23 other languages to choose from.
  • You don’t need any additional software. It’s cloud-based so you don’t have to worry about it taking up space on your computer. You also don’t have to worry about wasting your time by downloading anything you’re good to go once you’ve completed signing up.
  • The voice-overs sound very realistic. There are multiple voice options to choose from. But more than that, you can also add breathing and custom pauses as well as adjust the pitch, tone of voice, and speed of your recording.
  • It only takes a few clicks. It won’t take you more than five minutes to convert your text into speech. So you’re not wasting any time on any part of the process.

  • Inaccurate accents. The only negative thing I can say about the platform is that the developers need to work on some of its accents. Other languages - like French, don't sound 100% authentic. Although it's a slightly minor issue, it can cause problems if your audience finds it offensive.
  • Heavy word limitations. You’re only able to generate a voice over for 700 words of text at a time. This isn’t a big problem if you don’t mind stitching voice clips for longer audio requirements manually, but it can be a problem if convenience is a big thing for you. The PRO upgrade allows you to convert more words, but it’s really not enough especially if you’re recording voice overs for longer videos.
  • The pro upgrade is paid quarterly. The entire premise of the standard edition is paying a one-time fee so you don’t have to think about payment ever again. The only problem is that if you want to upgrade to PRO, then you’ll have to pay an additional fee every three months to keep using it.

Speechelo pricing plans

For a limited time, the app is up for one time purchases. You can get it for only $47 and you get access for the entirety of the software’s existence. This includes any changes in the payment model, as well as any future updates.

Speechelo pricing plans

I like how you don't need to worry about any monthly fees. Which basically means there’s one less thing you need to worry about each month.

And besides, paying less than $50 for a lifetime of unlimited voice overs sounds like more than just a reasonable deal to me.

Speechelo alternative: what is my other choice?

It should come as no surprise that Speechelo isn’t the only tts software of its sort in the market. In fact, text to speech engines have been around for a very long time. If you’re not quite sure if Speechelo would be a good fit for you, here’s one of the software’s top competitors:

This app comes with a massive library of voice options. You get to choose from over 200 voices collected from Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and IBM. It also supports over 50 languages.

Here’s an overview of its best features:

  • More than 200 natural-sounding voice options
  • Support for all voices available
  • Unlimited revisions
  • iTunes podcast hosting
  • Voice over capability
  • Analytics
  • Email Subscriptions

Play.ht plans and pricing

There are three plans to choose from ranging from $90 to over $600 on an annual billing cycle.

  • Starter - at around $90 each year, this option allows you to convert up to one hundred twenty thousand words into speech each year.
  • Growth - this price tier allows for up to three hundred sixty thousand words converted into text each year. It costs about $240 per billing cycle.
  • Business - at $640 per year, this plan is their most extensive yet. It allows you to record up to one million two hundred thousand words each year.

Play.ht vs Speechelo

One of the biggest factors affecting my decision with this software is the cost. When you consider it, it’s significantly more compared to the former. Plus, you need to worry about yearly fees.

On top of that, you’re also more limited since you have a maximum number of words per year depending on the plan you choose.

On the other hand, Play.ht is better for you if you want to be able to directly upload your podcast to iTunes, or if you want a larger voice and language library to choose from.

Speechelo review: is it worth it?

This text to speech program is a great option if you’re looking for a software with a one-time fee instead of a monthly payment model. Moreover, it’s one of the most realistic tts engines out there. I like how there are options for inflections, as well as adding breathing sounds, and pauses.

There are also multiple voice and language options to choose from which adds to its inclusivity and gives you more freedom to use it for a variety of projects like voiceovers, storytelling, and even podcasts.

I’m confident enough to say that it’s definitely one of the best out there especially if you don’t want to be limited to a specific number of words each month.

The one-time fee is convenient and gives you complete control over how much or how little you want to use the app each month without having to worry about making the most out of it.

However, if you’re not keen on it, you should also look into its alternatives. Play.ht is a good choice if you want to start creating podcasts that can be automatically published to iTunes.
