The CATE app is a call-and-text eraser app that protects your privacy. Its built-in encryption ensures no one can access the contents of those deleted files, not even your carrier or hacker.

CATE also features a "spy cam" function that allows you to take a picture of someone trying to spy on you without their knowledge. The app also includes a timer that lets you set how long it takes before the information deletes itself.

If you're worried that someone might find out about your phone habits or check up on them by looking at your history, CATE is an excellent way to protect yourself.

In this article, I'll explain what happened to the CATE app after it appeared on Shark Tank.

What is the CATE app?

CATE is an app that allows you to protect your privacy and control what's on your phone. The CATE app includes many different functions, but it's famous for its spy cam and security camera features.

CATE's spy cam allows you to take pictures and videos of whoever is using your phone without them knowing they are under surveillance.

You can also use CATE as a security camera to monitor your home when you aren't there or keep an eye on children if they have their phones.

Who's the genius behind the CATE app?

CATE's creator, West Palm Beach police officer Phil Imler, sought to unite the community and break down barriers between law enforcement and domestic violence victims.

Imler hoped to create a safer, more comfortable environment for victims of abuse and make it simpler for police officers to respond to calls that often left them frustrated by their inability to help.

Neal Desai purchased the application from Imler and his sister. The generous application gathered attention and support from the local community and law enforcement agencies.

Desai took on the responsibility of managing the application and improving its functionality. Desai was also able to bring on a team of developers and designers to make the application better.

He worked with local law enforcement agencies to see their needed features and how the app could implement their suggestions.

In addition, Desai was responsible for marketing, community outreach, and fundraising efforts that helped him grow his user base.

Its initial marketing proposal targeted jealous partners and cheaters. However, Desai attracted the attention of many users, earning the app thousandsof downloads after the show aired.

He mentioned that the app creator didn't have time to develop the app, so he took the opportunity to turn it into something bigger. I would call that 'birdwatching.'

CATE app features

The CATE app offers many features that offer additional privacy and security. It started as an app for law enforcement to track and locate domestic violence victims as the user's GPS is used to detect their location.

The app later expanded to include other features that make it useful for anyone who wants additional privacy and security.

It tracks real-time GPS tracking of the user's location and speed. The CATE app tracks users' real-time GPS location and speed. It allows users to keep their families safe by knowing where they are.

Additionally, its accuracy makes it helpful in tracking the location of vehicles or other objects. The tracker will also show you where in the world you are located and how fast your vehicle is moving.

A slight movement can be enough to set off an alert, which is great for knowing if someone has taken your phone from its current location.

The device can also tell you how fast your vehicle is moving, which makes it helpful in tracking the location of vehicles or other objects.

Push notifications send alerts whenever someone tries to access your phone on your behalf or if it moves from its current location.

These alerts are great for keeping an eye on your children or employees, as they can tell when they've left school or work.

Deleting the app from your device will be disabled on all other devices with the same account. For example, the app will no longer work if you change your phone number.

Before deleting and reinstalling the app, you'll need to re-enable it on any devices linked to it.

You don't need to worry about the app being hacked or compromised because it only tracks the locations of devices linked to it. It won't track any other phones or tablets. You can use a panic button to alert authorities in an emergency.

The app allows you to set up a "geo-fence" that alerts you if your child or other loved one enters or leaves a specific area. You can see where they are, who they are with, and how long they have been in that location.

The CATE app makes it easy for domestic violence victims to contact local authorities and emergency responders and provides safety planning resources.

It also allows users to send a distress signal, alerting authorities, friends, or family members that they need help.

In addition, the app gives victims of domestic violence easy access to local shelters, legal aid agencies, and other social service organizations that can provide support.

CATE app Shark Tank update

As of 2022, the CATE app is out of business. The CATE app's application and website are down, and proposals to renew the app don't have updates. The CATE app tweeted the most recent update on its official Twitter account in 2013.

Desai accepted a $70,000 investment from Kevin O'Leary and Daymond John in exchange for giving each of them 35% ownership in the company.

What happened to the CATE app after Shark Tank?

It earned thousands of downloads after the episode aired. Of course, most women want to find out if they have cheating partners. But, unfortunately, it didn't attract much attention after that.

After digging deep, I found no solid information on what happened to the call and text eraser

However, it did follow a pattern similar to others. It happens with every app. The app has several competitions. Unfortunately, the marketing strategies weren't enough to keep the app running as it should.

I think the CATE app failed.

The CATE app challenges faith and trust between married couples. Its initial proposal was its premises on cheating. Desai even brought out statistics. He said 80% of married couples reach a point of infidelity.

What Happened To CATE App After Shark Tank

When this didn't convince the investors, he tried to tell them it was a privacy app. It backfired, and they told him to stick with the script and say that CATE is for cheating.

I'm not entirely fond of snooping around other people and invading their privacy and personal space. It used to be an app for victims to feel safe. Now, the app markets itself to look like a safe with a padlock.

Other than that, Desai released the CATE app on Cydia. I used to use Cydia, and trust me. It's like an alleyway of drugs for apps. Everything on the Cydia store is modified, tweaked, and requires a lot of effort so you can download the app on your phone.

CATE app's pros & cons

On the one hand, privacy and security are sound. You don't need to worry about being hacked. But, on the other hand, if someone else downloads the CATE app on your phone and you don't notice, you will be under surveillance.

  • Added security
  • Theft protection
  • Real-time use of speedometer

  • Uses outdated encryption protocols
  • Stores your data in an unencrypted format on their servers
  • Privacy invasion
  • Inaccurate location tracking
  • Someone can use it for stalking or cheating
  • Costly
  • Inconvenient

CATE app alternatives

Today, dozens of "cheat apps," such as tracker and CheatMaster. These apps have millions of downloads, so it's clear that people are still interested in the idea. But, unfortunately, CATE never took off the way its creators had hoped.

I don't think it will ever take off. But on the other hand, Desai didn't know much about the app, and he completely turned the idea around.

I'm against CATE because it's a privacy invasion. If you're trying to catch your partner cheating, use a VPN or other apps that don't require you to install anything on their phone.

The same goes for snooping around other people and invading their privacy. If you want to find someone's password for an app or website, use keyloggers instead of installing this on their phone.

This app is invasive because you can access someone else's text messages, photos, contacts, call logs, etc.

The app's lack of privacy could lead to identity theft or, worse yet, physical harm if someone retaliated for your snooping around on their phone.
