What is Unbounce?
Founded by Rick Perreault and five other professionals, Unbounce is a comprehensive digital marketing solution that caters to small businesses’ needs - particularly landing pages. It specifically provides help to e-commerce companies, SaaS, and small to huge agencies.
The platform bills itself as a convenient yet cost-effective tool, thanks to its drag-and-drop landing page editor. It requires no coding skill, which is a crucial aspect of any type of builder to be more accessible. The editor has a library of more than 100 Unbounce landing page templates as well that you can use and tweak.
Aside from the main feature, Unbounce also comes with other valuable perks to help entrepreneurs with optimization including sticky bars, popups, and A/B split testing and third-party integrations.
For an overview, below are a few points explaining how the software works:
Moreover, the company also gives interested customers a chance to test all its features through its 14-day Unbounce free trial. And to those who are looking to earn extra income, the company offers a partnership program wherein members can earn up to 20% recurring commission for every sale they make.
Who should use Unbounce?
The software is fit to use by anyone who wishes to either kickstart their entrepreneurial journey or improve their lead generation and conversion. The software, however, comes with unique features tailored for specific purposes. It is also possible that it lacks elements that you need.
To see if Unbounce is the right marketing solution for your business, below is a list of people who will benefit significantly to the platform’s perks:
Digital marketer
Apparently, online marketers will benefit greatly from Unbounce tools. It is especially true for those with landing pages as their main product/service.
People working with multiple clients
Helping multiple clients simultaneously can be tough if done manually. It is why the company integrated an agency-oriented feature wherein users can manage, organize, and supervise several accounts in one dashboard. Perfect for small to huge agencies and freelance marketers.
Entrepreneurs without a restricted budget
It’s one of the few pitfalls I noticed in Unbounce. If you are a newbie and your budget is quite small, I suggest you skip Unbounce and find another platform that is affordable.
Its basic plan costs $79 a month. And if you want to use all its features, you have to purchase its Enterprise bundle which is $399 a month.
The perks and disadvantages
Before we dive into the main ones, below is a quick overview of why you should and why you should not subscribe to Unbounce’s services.

Unbounce review 2022: what are its main features?
Landing page builder
For a typical editor, Unbounce offers all tools marketers and biz owners need to create an aesthetically pleasing landing page. From videos to social widgets, you can integrate all these into your template.
No need to worry in case the default design does not match your brand. All elements inside are customizable and scalable. For instance, you can adjust the font size, change the style and color of texts, and even insert links.
Unbounce, on the other hand, is not only about “what’s good in the eyes”. It also comes with options to, say, add meta and alt descriptions to make it SEO-oriented.
The landing page builder is filled with tools that can help you create high-converting pages. As such, to give you full details of each, I divided them into four stages: build, customize, optimize, and convert.
Build
Production of landing page via Unbounce has made easier; thanks to its smart and advanced tools that let non-programmer entrepreneurs deal with such task less complicated. The building stage is comprised of features that are easy-to-use and time saving such as its library of Unbounce templates. It has more than 100 designs that you can either utilize as-is or alter it to match your brand’s look. The editor works as a drag and drop too; hence, you do not need to code.
There is also an option where you can duplicate an entire page instead of building another page from scratch. And of course, copy and paste options are available as well.
Here are the other programs you can use:
Apart from that, you can add custom script and pixels into the page for additional functionalities. And if needed, you can apply all scripts across different pages in one click via the Script Manager tool.
You can also build mobile-friendly landing templates using its Mobile Layout Assistant Tool. What it does is that, from a desktop version of your landing page, it will transform the template to a mobile-responsive page. You get to tweak and control how your page looks on mobile while maintaining the desktop version.
Customize
The customization process is a tad simpler too. You can either start from scratch or pick one template from the library and modify it. And if, say, the designs in Unbounce library does not match your taste or your brand, you can check and download any templates from Themeforest Marketplace 240+ customizable landing page designs.
Another feature to take note of is its pixel-perfect tool. Using it enables users to make adjustments in their pages freely rather than following grids and rulers. In fact, it is what sets Unbounce apart from its competitors as most of them come with grids, boxes, and rulers.
Adding images is quick and straightforward too. Either upload your own or pick one from Unsplash 8, 000+ royalty-free photos. It also comes with an Auto Image Optimizer tool which you can use to fine-tune your images to keep your landing pages from slowing down.
Using video as a backdrop is also possible through Unbounce. You can add them anywhere you like.
Wondering what the builder looks like?

Optimize
Unbounce guarantees its customers a continuous flow of leads by providing tools specifically for optimization purposes.
The A/B split test tool, for example, allows you to test and compare two or more variations of one landing page. Through it, you can see which page resonates completely with your audience.
But what I find interesting is that it has an AI-powered feature called Smart Traffic. The idea is it automatically connects your readers to a page where the person is likely to convert. It is, however, still on BETA phase.
On the one hand, it comes with a real-time data dashboard to help business owners and solopreneurs like you to manage and supervise how your pages are performing.
Convert
Unbounce conversion tools are focused on lead generation and customer satisfaction. The lead-gen form builder and gated-content options, for instance, are perfect for building email lists.
The latter lets you capture your target market attention by giving away “valuable content” - whitepapers and ebooks, for instance - in exchange for their contact information while the former allows you to integrate drop-downs, checkboxes, and radio buttons into your pages.
There is also an option to create your own thank you message. A tool that lets you send your readers to another page or content is available as well. It is an excellent strategy to improve your customers buying journey.
Security and performance
If the landing page editor is the software’s main course, its arsenal of safety features is the icing of the cake. Data reliability is a crucial aspect in operating a successful online biz. Without it, you and your customers’ information are at risk of being fished and used in illegal activities.
The landing page platform is comprised of 8 different tools tailored to maximize your webpage security. In fact, Unbounce is a GDPR compliant and follows strict data privacy rules and safety standards including CASL and PCI-DSS.
When it comes to optimizing your website performance, Unbounce focused on options that aim reliability. Its five worldwide data centers across the globe, for example, ensure that your pages load quickly in every country you targeted to launch your campaigns. It has a speed boost feature too which follows Google’s speed standards.
Account management
Working with multiple clients now has made easier; thanks to Unbounce Account Management System tool. Perfect for freelance marketers and small to huge digital agencies, the feature can help you keep all your tasks organized and stay on track.
Essentially, it enables users to manage and supervise clients, members, and campaigns from one dashboard. You can view, for instance, your team activities and movements in the builder and download the data in case you need to. There is also an option where you can download your prospects’ info individually to CSV.
You don’t have to worry juggling different passwords too. The system has a feature called Single Sign-on or SSO which lets you manage all usernames and passwords from one place.
Here are the other things you can use:
Popups and sticky bars
Add character to your page while enhancing its conversion rate by integrating these types of call-to-action elements. Having said that, Unbounce has a built-in feature where you can easily deploy them without coding.
Sticky bars are headers that stay at the top of your landing page, while popups are displays that appear anywhere on the page and depending on its trigger. These elements are both used to either advertise or as a call-to-action.
Unbounce gave a flexible approach to displaying targeted offers. Here’s what you expect from the feature:
Build
Creating sticky elements and popups via Unbounce is a piece of cake. The editor functions as a drag and drop and includes elements to help you produce aesthetically persuasive targeted offers.
But what I find impressive is that to boost relevance, Unbounce added a Dynamic Text Replacement which automatically replaces the copy of your popups and sticky bars according to the visitor search history.
Users get to integrate two-step opt-in forms too, which turn links, buttons, and even images into a pop-up form.
Target and trigger
Essentially, users can set which trigger these elements will appear on the page. Here’s a list of triggers you can use within the feature:
Integrations
For Unbounce, customers’ needs are a priority. Hence, the platform allows entrepreneurs to integrate other marketing solutions to enhance and leverage their marketing efforts further.
All in all, Unbounce can be integrated with a total of 106 marketing solutions.
Unbounce alternatives
If you think the platform’s arsenal of tools is not the right mix of solution for your digital needs, I listed down below a few Unbounce alternatives you might like.
Landingi is a fully-featured marketing software - same as Unbounce—known for its landing page builder. It comes with a wide array of options to support small business owners with their digital needs particularly landing pages.
I find Landingi pretty similar to Unbounce. Aside from it has a collection of page templates with designs inspired by various industries, it also lets users integrate with other marketing solutions. The difference is that Unbounce has 200+ templates and Landingi has 100+ only.
Apart from building and publishing landing pages, the software lets you automate key tasks, manage prospect clients, as well as data analyzation and optimization.

Leadpages is a marketing platform built to help solopreneurs and business owners in gathering prospect buyers and building email lists. It works similarly like Unbounce. The only difference is that Leadpages has far more useful features.
For instance, it has webinars, lead magnets, etc. It allows users to host videos for free too, which means - if the design is fit to - you can embed videos within your landing pages. Perfect for those who run online tutorials.
Leadpages also enables users to conduct webinars, send SMS, and create sales pages. Other than that, it provides tools that Unbounce offers too. The only downside I noticed is that it does not have a built-in email autoresponder.

Unlike Unbounce, Clickfunnels is a marketing software designed to make the process of building sales funnels simpler. And instead of attracting and generating leads, its main function is to convert prospects into paying customers.
Clickfunnels also has a landing page builder. It requires no coding skills since the editor works as a drag and drop. The only downside is that, compared to Unbounce, its accessibility is not for entry-levels.
Also, if your top priority is to create landing pages only, the platform might overwhelm you with its features. It is too pricey as well for beginners. Hence, I recommend it only to experienced marketers and entrepreneurs with a concrete business plan.
If you want to know more about it, check my Clickfunnels review here.
Putting it all together
Unbounce is indeed a complete marketing solution to help small biz owners boost their conversion rates. It allows many entrepreneurs with low technical skills to bridge the gap between technology and business.
It is impressive that Unbounce did not only prioritize its landing builder, but it gave importance to their clients’ security as well as the software’s entire performance. Now, you can protect your data and your customers payment details from being hacked while continuously building high-converting pages.
All in all, I find it a great platform to support business-minded individuals in their endeavor to become a successful online entrepreneur. If you want to find out more, I suggest you to try out its free trial.
